Celebrating 60 Years: The World War II Memorial

The corner of State Street at Glenwood park avenue was an empty lot with a rotting stump in the summer of 1999. John Ferguson led the charge to establish a memorial for the veterans of WWII. With a committee of committed veterans and a committed contractor, Frank ‘Stumpy’ Whipple, Dahlkemper Landscape Architects and Contractors developed plans to provide a fitting site for the memorial on this corner. This is just across the street from Veterans Stadium, a memorial in honor of those serving in WWI.

Testimonials

Krista and I would like to pass on to your crew that we really do enjoy our front yard. We have found people stopping by to look at it as if it were a piece of art, of course we know it is. It has made a big difference in our enjoyment of our home. We will highly recommend you to all of our friends.

Sincerely,
Jim Strafford
